October 1, 2012

Hei Hei Familie,

How y'all doin?  It has been another busy week here in Oslo!  I have been having so much fun here with the other missionaries.  We have so many possibilities here in Oslo with a pretty big ward, institute center, and other missionaries.

On Friday we borrowed the AP's van and went and did some service for a member and her non-member friends.  They were all from the Philippines, and they were moving into a new apartment, and they needed someone with a big car to pick up a couch, outdoor grill, coffee table, and a closet.  You wouldn't believe it but we fit it all in the van.  It was insane... i thought there is no way in this world are we going to fit everything in this van but we just kept stuffing things in.  It was a lot of fun and we were able to do it really fast.  Eldste T and I were basically running back and forth from the apartment to the van.  We pulled up to the Filipino's apartment and they were so excited.  We unloaded everything and then we ate this delicious Filipino food.  It was really good!

On Saturday we reserved a place in downtown Oslo to do a street stand.  It was awesome and it turned out really well.  I felt like a legit sales man for the Lord as I was chasing people down and giving them the offer of salvation for free if they would just act.  It's amazing how many people shut down the offer of eternal life.  Nevertheless we had hundreds stop as we were drawing the great plan of salvation on the sidewalk with chalk.  We taught over forty people about the plan of salvation between the eight of us missionaries.  We also gave out over thirty Books of Mormon.  It turned out to be a huge success and we plan on doing it again in the near future.

This week the members celebrated the church being in Norway for a 160 years.  We had a big party on Saturday night where we played games, ate food, and heard about the history of the church in Norway.  We also had a special sacrament meeting where the talks were focused on the 160 years.  After church we had lots of food again with pictures and more history about the church.  We had a lot of non-members who came to the meetings.

C our new convert got the priesthood today and I was the one who ordained him to the office of a priest.  It was a great experience that I'm very grateful to be a part of.  He is going to be a great leader for the church in Norway in years to come.  If he was the only one that had accepted the gospel on my mission it would've been worth it.

I know that this church is true and that is lead by a prophet of God and 12 Apostles.  I'm way excited for General Conference and it is literally my favorite time of the year.  I know as we come prepared to General Conference by studying the scriptures, praying, and pondering we will be ready to receive the revelation and guidance we need in our lives.

Eldste Godfrey
