On the ferry to the island

Hei Hei Familie,

How y'all doin?  It has been a great week and I'm loving my mission!  Last Monday we took a ferry out to an island and hung out.  We had a blast and we found these old ruins where a church used to be.  I guess some monks used to live there and then they got conquered or something but the island was beautiful.  We found a grassy area to have a BBQ and i found a bench which i ended up sleeping on later ha ha.  We were with the Oslo elders, sisters, and the fredrikstad elders.  We walked along the coast on our way back to the ferry dock and something really funny happened.  On one of the big rocks along the shore someone had carved facebook.com and Elder S and I decided it would be cool if we carved mormon.org on the rocks, so while we were doing this Elder L comes up to see what we were doing.  He stepped on a slippery rock and fell into the ocean.  He wasn't to happy and he couldn't get up because the rock was so slippery.  I was laughing so hard but in the end he was alright and the only thing that got wet was his shorts.

On Wednesday we had Zone Leader Council which is always way fun.  Sister Evans made us delicious American sloppy Joe's which was amazing.  We had a great time together and came up with a lot of good ideas for the mission.

The newspaper article came out on Thursday and it was amazing.  We found out afterwards that Vårt Land (newspaper) has been very negative towards the church and this is probably the first article that they have written about us that has been positive.  It was five pages and was full of lots of quotes from Elder T and I as well as lots of pictures.  I'm almost done translating it and when i get finished i will send it home.

We can't get a hold of S so things are pretty dead there but K is getting baptized on Saturday.  He is so awesome and I'm so excited for him!  We were famous at church on Sunday with the news article and K getting baptized.  I'm so grateful that i didn't give up on contacting him a few months ago.  I had called him like five times with no answer as well as we tried to visit him a couple times and he was never home.  I told myself I'm going to try one more time and will see what happens.  Well, what do you know, he picked up the phone and we got an appointment with him the next day.  After we met with him, he told us he was going out of town for the next month and we couldn't meet with him until he got back.  Well we got in contact with him when he got back and we have been meeting with him ever since.  He invited his whole family to the baptism who are not members so this is going to be an excellent way to share the gospel with them. After church we went out to say bye to K and we saw his car...  he drives a BMW sports car .  It was way sick!

We have been so blessed here in Oslo and I'm so grateful for the opportunity i have to serve a mission.  I love it here!  Yesterday I was thinking about all the incredible experiences I've had on my mission and its absolutely amazing!

I love you all!

Eldste Godfrey
