How y'all doin this week? I can't believe how many cool things happened this week! Wow time is going fast though! Also I was wondering if you could write grandpa's quote to me in your next e-mail.
Well to begin with i got a phone call on Tuesday from a member who is in charge of the media for the church in Norway. A newspaper agency called Vårt Land contacted her and wanted to meet us and spend most of the day with us. As you can imagine elder Torjesen and I were way nervous but I was also way excited to get our word out to the thousands that read the newspaper everyday. We met up with them on Wednesday morning and they had tons of questions. They watched our companionship study, went out contacting with us, and came to an appointment we had. They were snapping shots left and right and i felt kind of like a celebrity. The newspaper will come out this Thursday and I'm way excited to see what they write about. It was a way cool experience and i think the reporters were very shocked with how much success we had.
In the beginning they were asking us how we were so happy with getting shut down day after day. We told them the gospel makes us happy ha ha but when we went out contacting they were really impressed. Almost everyone we stopped talked to us and they were Norwegian and let me tell you something this is not normal. The Lord really blessed us and hopefully they write a good report about us. The only time it got a little shaky is when the person we had an appointment with started asking us where the book of Abraham came from and if we can become like God and make planets. Those were some difficult questions to answer ha ha. I will buy several copies on Thursday and I'll send one home to you all.
The investigators are doing really well! The really really exciting news for this week is that we got a date with K yesterday for the 15th of September! He is the 23 year old Norwegian and is awesome! I'm going to be friends with him for the rest of my life! He is a smart guy too. He is already done with college and has a full time legit job. He came to institute on Friday and loved it and afterwards we answered some questions from his reading in the Book of Mormon. You could say that he is just one of those golden investigators that is so ready to follow Christs example and be baptized. We are way excited for him and we also found out that he has talked to this mormon family in Brazil on skype about the church. He is awesome and I love my mission!
S is doing pretty good and she still has her date on the 15th too. The only issue we have now is that her boyfriend that is a member broke up with her. I hope we can continue to meet with her and that she can be baptized too. Everyone needs the gospel!
We went on splits twice this week with Romerike elders and the AP's. I went to Romerike and had a good time there and we were able to meet with some cool people. The AP's came down Friday night and stayed until Saturday night and that was a lot of fun too. The sisters had a baptism on Saturday so we all went to that and that was really good. We had an investigator come named F. He is the one that lives in the forest and i sent you pictures of that. I was with Elder W from Bountiful and we had a dinner appointment with C. T. from Taiwan. I love this man and he has been gone in Taiwan for the last three months and is back. We made sushi with him and he taught us how to roll it. It was so awesome and it tasted way good. I was going into that dinner appointment not so sure if i was going to like it. I love it and i hate liking things that are expensive ha ha. Now i have to buy sushi at restaurants ha ha. It was a lot of fun and i also found out that C. T. does a lot of the translating for the church. He has translated many general conferences and did the translation for the temple which is way cool. He was a convert when he was like 17 and he is now about 30 years old and is a professor at the university of Oslo. He teaches Chinese there.
Side note: Dad i heard this group of people speaking some Asian language last p-day and i went up to them and said hi in Chinese and then they started talking back to me in Chinese like i understood them ha ha. We then spoke in English after realizing i don't understand them and come to find out they are from Hong Kong so I told them what i do as a missionary and that my father did the same in Hong Kong. It was pretty cool!
I love my mission and I'm so grateful that i have been given the opportunity to serve the Lord for two years. The gospel is awesome and brings me so much happiness. Mormons should be the happiest people in the world because of our message. I love you all and I'll talk to you all soon.
Eldste Godfrey
