Nice steak dinner in a restaurant

Largest church in Scandinavia in Trondheim

My cut thumb
Hei Hei,

This has been one of the craziest weeks on my mission.  It has also been a lot of fun despite a few unfortunate events that happened this week.  To start out the week we were on our way to Kristiansand which is about a four hour drive.  We decided to stop at Bergbys (really really good fast food) for some burgers.  We were driving the huge van so we could help the Kristiansand elders take some junk to the dump.  We were in the drive through when the back end of the van hit the order box.  I caused some good damage on the van.  It was a real bummer!

We had a great time in Kristiansand and Arendal though.  It was really cool to be back in my hometown of K-sand.  We visited Bishop M and it was cool to see him again.  We also visited A who Elder Van Wagoner and I baptized.  That was a really special moment for both of us.  I hadn't seen her for over a year.

On the way back from our trip we stopped at a restaurant built over a highway.  It is really cool and we both dropped $40 on a steak there.  It was cool!  We made it safe and sound before we had to turn around and take a flight to Trondheim.  We had a good time working with the elders and the zone leaders there.  All of this traveling is preparing me for the business world I guess.  I've had so much fun this transfer but man am I beat.

We flew back into Oslo on Friday where we met with President and talked about the upcoming moves.  Elder Van Wagoner and I started making lunch and I was slicing some cheese.  Well the cheese slicer was stuck on the cheese so I pulled really hard and it came flying off and went right into my thumb.  It didn't look very pretty and President wanted me to go to the hospital to get it stitched up but luckily Elder Johansen has had lots of injuries in his life so he took care of it for me.  He made this butterfly thing with a band aid and said it would do the same as stitches so everything turned out well.

Saturday, turned out to be an interesting day for us.  We met with a new convert in Asker and we park at the mall because it's free parking.  Anyways to make a long story short as we were walking through the mall to get back to our car I glanced over at my right and saw a women breast feeding her child and she wasn't covering a thing.

We left the Asker and we were trying to visit a person we met on the street.  We were driving on some road just outside of Asker when we drove past this big gate that had a security guard with machine gun.  As you can imagine i became very intrigued and I wanted to find out what he was guarding so I turned the car around and drove up next to the guard.  He came up to the car and I asked him what this fenced place is.  He wouldn't answer my question and told that I couldn't be here and to drive off.  I asked him again because I thought maybe he didn't understand me but he said the same thing.  I got pretty scared that I was going to get arrested so I quickly drove off ha ha.  It was pretty intense!  We later found out that the Crown Prince lives there.

We had a great day at church again and D came with her two kids again.  We also got in contact with S the girl I was teaching in Oslo that had a date.  She lives in the Sandvika ward boundaries and she came to church on Sunday.  It was a miracle!  The Lord has been so merciful to us and our area.  We don't get a lot of time to work in our area and it has been a huge miracle to see all the success we are having here in Sandvika.  We have a ton of potential here and we are working with a lot of people right now.

Elder Van Wagoner and I will be going on an exciting trip this week up to Ålesund.  I've always wanted to go there and we will get the chance this Thursday.  It takes about nine hours and after we drop the car off there and look at some property for a new church in Ålesund we will fly back.  It's going to be way sick!  After the Ålesund trip, I have been in every area in Norway besides Alta and Haugesund and we are planning on visiting those places next transfer.

I love my mission!  I'm excited about a lot of things when I get home but at the same time I'm going to miss it here and all the wonderful people I have become acquainted with.  I have learned so much about personal revelation since I've been working in the office.  All we have to do ask and the Lord will open up the doors of revelation for us.  I would be lost without personal revelation everyday.  It has been a lot fun teaching D about the gospel.  We have seen her grow so much and it will be exciting when her daughter gets baptized in about a year and a half.  I love you all so much and I look forward to hearing from you next week!

Eldste Godfrey
