How y'all doin?
We had another busy week and I unfortunately got sick this week as well. I think it's from lack of sleep and my companion was sick last week. I hope that my body will be able to fight it off quick. We started our week with the celebration of the new year... 2013 BABY... WOW...time goes by fast! We had two dinner appointments on New Years where we ate lots of food. I started get really bad chest pains this week because of all the food I ate around Christmas and New Years. I'm so sick of food ha ha. We drove into Oslo New Years night to watch the fireworks. New Years is really big here in Norway. Everyone lights off fireworks and gets wasted. We watched the fireworks from the senior couples balcony. They have an amazing view of the Oslo city so it was really cool.
We had Zone Leader Council on Wednesday which turned out really well. Those days are always really busy because we have to drive to the airport in the morning to pick up the zone leaders and then drive them back to the airport that night. We eat breakfast and lunch at the president's home and then we just talk about the mission and its needs.
On Saturday we went to a juletrefest (Christmas tree party) at the church where we danced and sang around the Christmas tree. Santa Claus came and gave gifts to all the kids. The Christmas spirit is still here in Norway and I'm definitely going to carry on some of the traditions they have here.
We had a great experience this week with a guy named T. He is a non-member who lives with a member. We visited them this week and he has agreed to take all the missionary lessons. It was a miracle! We taught him about the restoration and he really liked it. The spirit was really strong and his girlfriend/wife bore a strong testimony about the Book of Mormon. It was amazing! I love these types of experiences on my mission. It makes me want to do missionary work for the rest of my life.
Well Elder Williams and I are going on our crazy adventure today. I didn't really realize how crazy it's going to be until we started planning for it. We will be flying to Tromsø this afternoon which is a two hour flight. We will work there that night and drive to Narvik the next morning. We will work there for a few hours and then will drive to Bodø. After we spend the night in Bodø we will drive to Trondheim and spend the night there.
On Thursday morning we will drive from Trondheim to Sandvika which will finish our trip for a total of 24 hours of driving. It's going to be intense. We could drive to Cicily Italy in the same amount of time. It's going to be beautiful because a lot of the roads are along the coast. It will be like driving along the Na pali coastline X10 ha ha. We will have to be very careful with the weather conditions and the windy narrow roads.
Thank you all for everything you do! You guys are great examples to me. I know that God lives and that he loves and cares about each one of us. I challenge you all to build your relationship with our Heavenly Father but also Jesus Christ. We can build our relationship with our Heavenly Father through prayer but how can we build our relationship with Jesus? Think about that and I want to hear your responses next week. Love you all!
Eldste Godfrey
