Hey y'all how you doin? I had an adventure of a lifetime this last week. It was so SICK!!! We started this grand adventure on Monday and it ended on Thursday night. We took a two hour plane ride up to Tromsø on Monday afternoon. We worked there that night with the Tromsø elders and we had a blast. The highlight that evening in Tromsø was when we saw the northern lights!
Tuesday morning we woke up and the elders made us pancakes and then we were off on the road towards Narvik. It took four hours to drive there but it was absolutely beautiful. The roads weren't to bad but we had to be way careful. It was surprisingly pretty warm too with not much snow in the cities. They grate the roads like they would a ski run so they just pat the snow down ha ha.
We arrived in Narvik that afternoon and then it was work time! Narvik is a very small area and they haven't had anyone in church for 26 weeks! Our goal was to find someone that would come to church. We had a blast with those elders and just blasted the city. We only had one hour before we had to get on the road again to get Bodø at a decent time. The Lord really blessed us and Elder Williams and I were both able to find someone to come to church with the Narvik elders. It just goes to show you what faith can do. The elders were so happy and they didn't want us to leave. I think we might be going up there again soon. After pleading with the Lord to find someone to come to church as well as working with all our heart, might mind and strength then the spirit was able to lead us to the people that God has prepared. It was a great experience!
We then drove to Bodø which was another four hours. We got there on Tuesday night and the elders had made us steaks for dinner. The Bodø elders are probably the nicest missionaries in the mission. They treated us like kings and gave up their beds and made us a delicious breakfast etc. The next morning we were able to hit the streets of Bodø for about an hour before we had to get on the road. It was fun pumping them up too!
We left on our 12 hour drive to Trondheim at about 11am. We took a little detour to check out some cool stuff along the way. We stopped at saltstraumen which is worlds largest whirl pool. It was pretty cool and because of this little detour we took back roads for a good part of our drive to Trondheim. The roads were pretty sketch but we made it out alive ha ha. We drove through the Arctic circle or saltfjellet which was way cool. It felt like we were driving through Antarctica. We stopped in Mo i Rana for dinner which where we usually have missionaries but it's closed right now. We finally arrived in Trondheim at about 12:30pm.
We woke up early Thursday morning and drove for another 9 hours home. We just had a blast and it was the greatest adventure ever! We took a wrong turn on our way home which put us on this other road where we saw a car like every thirty minutes. I'm very grateful for the wrong turn we took because it was awesome! We drove through a couple of ski villages and drove up and down these huge mountains with a ton of snow on top. It was pretty cool! When I was driving it felt like I was riding my motorcycle in the sand dunes. We also drove through two national parks, Rondane and sunndalsfjella. You will have to look them up on google or something.
We arrived in Sandvika Thursday night for a member dinner which was nice after all that traveling. Friday through Sunday was just full of appointments because we were gone the first part of the week. We are doing better in our area but we haven't had much time to work in our area which is a bummer.
Well I've been thinking about my brothers lately and how great they are. Jakob and Justin are great and I respect them so much. I want to go to the temple with Jake as soon as I get home. I also want to baptisms for the dead with Jakob and Justin. It would be cool to have Jake baptize me and vica-versa.
I'm so grateful for my mission and all the wonderful experiences I've had. The Lord has truly blessed me and I wouldn't trade this time for anything. I know that the spirit is real. It leads and directs us as we hold ourselves clean and are willing to listen to the promptings. I love you guys and I look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Eldste Godfrey
