How are y'all doing? I can't believe everything that is happening back home. I'm so excited for you all! Jessie is going to love the temple. There is a member here who served in the Salt Lake City south mission and the Draper temple is his favorite. It will be awesome when all have our endowments out and we can go and do sessions as an entire family. So many amazing things to look forward to. Eldste Lilllywhite told me his dad was working at Davis now because Valley View is going down hill but i forgot to tell you guys. Eldste Lillywhite went to Layton and he worked at Valley View before the mission.
I hope Jake can go to trek but he's going to have to use his own agency. I love the story from General Conference that talked about the girl who had a soccer match on Sunday and the parents let her choose if she wanted to play on Sunday. She used her agency and chose to play on Sunday and after she regretted it and never played a match on Sunday again. If her parents would have made the decision for her she would have never learned the lesson she did. That is why it is so important that parents are examples to their children. I want to thank you guys for being good examples to me. I knew what was right and wrong and you guys always let me choose. I made a lot of wrong decisions but I was able to learn from my mistakes and it has made me the person that I am today. I'm so grateful for the principles and doctrine that you taught me ever since I was young. I knew what was right or wrong because of that even though sometimes i didn't choose the right.
I want to give you guys a challenge to start studying Preach my Gospel together as a family for family home evening. There are several reasons why this would be a good idea but i will only mention a few of them, 1) you are learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how the church was founded. 2) Teaches you how to plan and set goals to accomplish all your hopes and dreams. 3) build unity as a family 4) You are learning the doctrines we believe in and 5) Jake and Justin are going on missions soon. I can't think of a better way to prepare for the mission than to study Preach my Gospel and do things it tells you to do.
This week has been a very busy one and went by extremely fast. On Monday we were on splits with the APs (eldste bolt and tarver). We had a blast with them and it was fun to be with my mother again ha ha. After we were done with e-mailing we went out and tried to find a geo-cache but we didn't have a lot of luck. It rained on Monday for the first time since I've been here. We went and played soccer in the rain for like two hours and it was a lot of fun. I don't think I've ran like that since the MTC. We were drenched head to toe but we had a great time. I was with Eldste Bolt during the splits and we were able to get a lot done. I definitely miss being with an experienced missionary ha ha. They left Tuesday afternoon and i rode with him to Drammen for our next splits. I was with Eldste Oslen in Drammen on Tuesday and Wednesday. Drammen is a beautiful city in between two big mountain ranges and sits on the coast. It's a pretty big city so it was nice to see so many people on the streets. Our last splits was on Saturday and Eldste Wilkins came down from Oslo. It's a three hour train ride down to Skien so i was alone Friday and Saturday night for over three hours. There are probably not a lot of missions that are like that ha ha but I'm not going to lie it was extremely peaceful being by myself ha ha.
Our pool of investigators are really low right now and i wanted our splits focus to be, finding new investigators. We received a list of potential investigators with their contact information through out the week of contacting. One by one dropped as we called to set up another appointment with them. Satan has definitely stepped up his game here and he is on these potential investigators as soon as we are done talking to them.
Other: That is awesome that Mitt is the republican nominee. I think that its ridiculas that the only thing that can throw at him is our religion. Its a good thing our church is rock solid ha ha. It will be really interesting to see what Obama does with him. What are they saying about the chances of Mitt beating Obama? I hope the Jazz make the play-offs as well. Have you guys been able to go to a lot of their games? I can't believe Jessie is getting married and graduating college. What an amazing time for her. I'm so proud of her! Are the stairs going to block the garage door downstairs.... or what? Maybe the spiral staircase would be better... I don't know. Your not putting on the side where the big window is right? I will most likely be leaving at the end of transfers so don't send the package until I get to my new area. I'm probably going to send a package at the end of the transfer with some stuff. Is there anything you want specifically? I'm thinking about buying a collection of Dream Works DVDs or pixar DVDs that are in English but they also have in Norwegian. Then you will be able hear what it sounds like and I'll be able to watch them when i get home. Maybe its better to wait later in my mission. Are you taking all of our furniture to the new house?
