This last week a lot of really cool things happened and I have learned a lot. The weather has been awesome and perfect weather to go out contacting in. It has been in the high 60s with the sun out and a nice ocean breeze. I haven't needed anything more then a light jacket since I've been here. I'm sure things will start to cool down pretty soon. I will probably be buying my winter stuff in a couple of weeks as well as a European suit. European clothing is pretty cool but a mall in Kristainsand is having a sale in about two weeks so i'll probably buy some stuff there. I think i'm going to wait to send kasey an e-mail instead. I'm really interested in finding out about dads new responsibilities at his work. A member told us this morning that Huntsman and Romney are the leading republicans. That is pretty crazy that you have two mormons in there. I was given some good advice this morning. It might seem cheesy and a simple answer but it is so true. In order for us to stay strong in the gospel and for us to never leave the church is to love the gospel. Love the gospel like you would your spouse. I'm glad the kids are doing good! I miss you guys a lot but time is going by so fast and i'm enjoying every minute of it.
Elder Bolt and I have been working on rebuilding our teaching pool this last week and we will continue to do this for the rest of the transfer. Kristian has decided to be baptized in two weeks so we should be having a baptism then.
I had the opportunity to go on splits to Arendal this last week. I was with Elder Decosta from Hawaii. He has about a month left of his mission and you can tell it has changed his life. I was with him on part of tuesday and wednesday. On Tuesday night we taught an entire family from Congo. The family had five kids all under the age of 10. When we started the lesson it was a little chaotic with kids running around but after we began with a prayer the mom called all the kids in and we taught them the plan of salvation. It was such a neat experience hearing these little kids talk about their Savior Jesus Christ. All the kids committed to never smoke or drink ha. The spirit was so strong and it was my first experience and Elder Decostas first experience with teaching an entire family.
Another cool experience i had was contacting on the street with Elder Bolt. We had been contacting around the state church in downtown Kristiansand for most of the day when we decided to try some where else for a while. We walked down by the park where the harbor is in town. I've always noticed this walking path that goes through the park and continues on for as far as the eye can see. I told Elder Bolt that we should walk down this path for a while and see whats at the end of the path. We walked on this path for about five to ten minutes stopping every person that was on the path and having no luck. After walking a little ways we noticed in front of us was this really nice park right on the ocean with lots of people strolling around on this nice sunny day. They had the nicest beach I've seen in Norway with a bunch of people playing sand volleyball. As we continued on our walk we were stopped by an old lady sitting on a park bench. She kindly asked if we would share a message with her. We had her read Ether 12:27 and she loved it. She looked at the name at the top of the page and said she wanted to read all of chapter 12 in Ether. She scanned through the book and then she realized that the book we had given her was not the bible. This opened the doors as she began to be curious about the book. We taught her of the restoration of the gospel and stressed modern day prophets in our day. She expressed to us that the world needed a prophet today. It was an amazing experience where the spirit led us to this lady. It is so important to follow the spirit everyday in our lives and will see miracles happen all around us.
Here are some thoughts from Conference: (I took 12 pages of notes and I've never been more excited to watch conference, it was like Christmas times 10)
Richard Scott: The scriptures can be the key to the channel to talk with God and great power comes through memorizing scriptures. Scriptures can become your best friend and you can go to them when struggles come your way.
Thomas S Monson: Cool temples coming soon like another one in Provo WOW!
Boyd K. Packer: We grow up on enemy territory with all the worldly things but because we have a body we have power over the adversary.
Dieter F. Uchtdorf: God doesn't see us any less then our full potential.
Jeffery R. Holland: I love when he speaks and liked how he said, <
Henry B. Eyring: We can always push ourselves to do a little more.
Thomas S. Monson: The priesthood is the gateway to the powers of heaven.
Ian S Ardern: Match your activities with your goals.
Carl B. Cook: Its always better to look up then down.
Tad R. Callister: There is no middle ground with the Book of Mormon, its Gods word or the devils.
Elaine S. Dalton: How do you raise a girl or any other child? Love there mother.
