November 26, 2012

Hello Family!  I don't know where to begin... this week has been crazy busy just getting used to my new calling in the office.  I can start out by answering questions they you all had.  I was very overwhelmed when the President told me I was going to be the next assistant.  I'm excited to do my best and to grow as a person.  I will be traveling a lot more and I will be flying to Stavanger on Friday and coming back on Saturday this week.  We are just so busy that I can't even keep my head on straight.  We don't have a typical day and usually plans never end up happening because of random things that come up.   I only have six months left so I will probably be in the office for the next four months and then have one last area after that.

I made a lot of connections this week with members in Norway knowing people that I know in Utah.  In Oslo we visited the A family every Tuesday night for dinner.  C is the father and is Norwegian but his wife, M is from Orem Utah.  Her brother served with Elder Harris in the office doing finance in Uruguay

This week I was very spoiled to go to two thanksgiving dinners.  The first dinner was on Thursday with President Evans, Sister Evans, and two senior couples.  As you can imagine I like these things because I like discussing grown up things ha ha.  Everything was delicious though!  On Friday, we had another thanksgiving dinner with all the Americans in the Sandvika ward.  It was held at the Oldham's home.  Josh Oldham (father) works for the oil company and is from Kaysville, Utah.  The funny thing is that he knows Uncle Steve and his family.  They were in the same ward when he was growing up and Josh is the same age as Danny.

The world is a lot smaller than we think it is especially when your a Mormon.  Christian Karlsson is in the Sandvika bishopric and went through the same MBA program as Ryan Godfrey.

This coming week is going to be really busy with planning, splits in Stavanger, and a specialized training meeting on Friday.  I have already bought several plane tickets for the mission and I'm becoming quite the travel agent.  It's crazy how expensive everything is.  A lot times it's cheaper to fly to the US than for some missionaries to go on splits with each other.  Tonight Elder W and I have to drive to Moss to drop off some desks and other materials they need for their area.

Well I love my life even though I'm really stressed out and really busy.  I love keeping busy and always have something to do.  It keeps me from thinking about home, and school etc.  It has been a fantastic week for Elder W and I with teaching and finding.  We don't have a lot of time to find and teach so it is really important that we use our time effectively.  We had three investigators at church which was really good.  We need to have a model area for the rest of the mission to look at.  I'm excited for the challenges that lay ahead and I know that it will only be through the Lord that I will be able to best help this mission.  I love you all so much and I look forward to hearing from you all next week.

Eldste Godfrey
