August 13, 2012

Hei hei,

How y'all doing?  This week has been a very good one!  We were extremely busy with zone training meeting.  President Evans has changed some things up so we now have zone conferences only four times a year and were not in charge of doing anything at zone conference anymore.  We now have zone training meetings once a month after zone leader council.  We are in charge of the entire meeting and the purpose of the meeting is basically to train missionaries ha ha.  It is not necessary for President Evans to be there but he wanted to have some opening remarks since this is the first time were doing this.  On Wednesday morning we met with the Oslo District and that afternoon we met with the Drammen District in Tønsberg.  President and Sister Evans were present for both meetings so they drove us down to Tønsberg (1 1/2 hours) after our meeting in Oslo.

It was a lot of fun talking with President and it was good to get to know him a little better.  I found out that he loves riding bikes and he goes out riding every morning.  The meetings went very well and i was glad we put so much time into them.  At the beginning I talked about some statistics in the mission and made some bar charts ha ha it was fun.  Everyone knows me as the business man ha ha.  We then chose three topics from my missionary purpose in Preach my Gospel.  We picked finding families, spiritual experiences, and baptismal commitment.  I have read all of the newsletters that you sent me and it was so much fun to hear about everyone experiences.

Both meetings were about three hours plus traveling time so it took up the entire day.  Despite the little time we had, we were still able to fit in an appointment with K.  He is Norwegian that is about 23 years old and he is awesome!  He found the church himself online and ordered a free Book of Mormon.  Elder Johnson and I came in contact with him last transfer and taught him once before he went on his month vacation to Germany.  He is now back and really positive.

S also came to church and she is doing great as well. We will be meeting her this week too.  Another man named F that we met came to church and he really liked it.  He has met missionaries before but has never been to church.  He was really interested in the Doctrine in Covenants so we ordered him a triple and then were going to deliver it to him and teach him.  He lives just over an hour away if your driving.  He says its in the middle of the forest so it sounds pretty intense.  I'm pretty excited!

On Wednesday we had our preparation day and we had a blast.  We visited four museums but three of them i have already been to.  We went to the Kon Tiki again but this time we were able to watch the film.  It was pretty cool and it basically proves that the Book of Mormon is true ha ha.  We also visited the Fram and Viking museum which i have been to.  The last museum we went to was so awesome.  It's called the Technology Museum, and it had so many cool hand things to do.  I had a blast there and i was also able to learn a little bit too.

On Saturday night we went and played basketball again for another way of finding people.  It was a lot of fun and we played with someone from Latvia and Norway.  They were pretty legit but with my 6'7" companion we took them.  The other elders came with us as well.  I hadn't played a lot of basketball on my mission until this transfer and it has been good to start playing again.

Well we had something really funny happen on Sunday.  It actually was a disaster but now we are just laughing about it.  Our teacher for the investigator class was teaching about the word of wisdom.  Well... lets just say that she is a very extreme vegetarian with some strong opinions.  She told our investigators that they can't eat meat and live with God.  She was trying to convert everyone to vegetarianism if that is even a word ha ha.  All the missionaries including the senior couple were trying to put this lesson back on track.  She was bringing up all these studies that she had done in school telling everyone why meat was bad etc.  One missionary got up and said, "it is not a commandment to be vegetarian" and she said, "not yet."  She focused the entire lesson on meat.  It was pretty crazy but everything turned out okay after we clarified everything with our investigators.

The sisters had a baptism on Saturday for a guy from Nigeria.  It went very well and it was good way to end the mission for Sister Fredrikson.  I can't believe she is already going home, she was in the MTC with our district when she was delayed.  I can't believe Lisa is back already too.  I can't wait to talk with her after the mission.

I love studying the gospel family and i look forward to doing it for the rest of my life.  I hope everyone in our family is reading in the scriptures everyday and praying.  If your not doing this, you can start now.  I love you all and i hope you have a great week!  I love you all!

Eldste Godfrey
