Hei Hei Familie,
WOW! I can't believe another week has gone by. Well this week there is so much to tell you guys. I don't know where to begin haha. I will answer all of your questions first and than I'll talk about the week. I'm glad you received the package and everything in it is for everyone i guess. The Daim candy bar is my favorite so you might want to share that one with everyone. Make sure you keep all of the stuff i sent home though. You can put all of the letters in a box or something for when i get home. It's a good thing i boxed up most of my stuff before i left home since were moving haha. I don't need the cook book and i thought you could get good at making all of the Norwegian food before i come home haha. Norwegian waffles/pancakes are the best. I bought the hymnbook in the MTC and i don't need it here. I can't complain about the weather at all. It has been in the low 50s for most of the week and i haven't seen snow yet. It has rained quite a bit and has been overcast almost everyday but its not to cold outside. My P-days are so different every week but all give you an example from last week and this week.
LAST WEEK
1. Study in the Morning
2. Email
3. Teach Folke a stop smoking program
4. Ate boller and cake
5. Went shopping at the mall (the malls here are pretty cool)
TODAY
1. Study in the Morning
2. same
3. same
4. Elder Bolt needs to pack and I'll read, write and maybe take a nap
Our investigator pool has it's ups and downs but overall it's not bad. Oslo was great and i love that city. It's huge with so many people in downtown. I'm the only one training from my group and I'm getting a missionary straight out of the MTC.
For the next package this is what i need: 1.A thin sharpie pen that i can use for PMG. My other one is running our of ink. 2. Strawberry pop-tarts. 3. molskin journal like the one Jessie gave me. 4. I want to get everyone's birth dates and what year they were born. (Family and Friends) 5. Maybe a couple new pairs of garments and maybe some under armor garments. I want to try them out.
This week has probably been the best week Elder Bolt and I have had. I flew to Oslo on Friday for training meeting and it went really well, I learned a lot and I'm getting really excited to start training. When I found out that I was training I was really nervous and wasn't sure if I would be able to do it. I'm one of the youngest missionaries out here who has not mastered the language by any means. No one else is training in my group and I think I might be one of the only missionaries that started training after 3 months of being out in the field. After training meeting in Oslo my attitude has changed and I'm really excited and I know were going to do great. The Lord has blessed Elder Bolt and I this last week after working hard this entire transfer. I met Andre in the city last week on the 26th while contacting in the city. He was a nice kid who went to school with Fredrik Pettersen who is on his mission now to England. Andre is 19yrs old and just moved into Kristiansand from Mandal. We didn't meet up with him until this last week. We set up an appointment with him and Elder Bolt and I were just going to teach him at the library. We got a feeling to call Oscar Berg to see if he would come on a teach with us. He said he could and offered for us to come over and teach him at his house. We got permission from the AP's to pick him up and drive him to Oscars. We taught him lesson 1 and it went really well. We gave him a soft commitment to be baptized and he accepted. He told us he wouldn't be able to come to church because he was having some visitors come over on Sunday but that we could set up another appointment to meet with him in two days. We met with him in the Library this time and taught him the plan of salvation. He had read the chapter we gave him and he was progressing but the library atmosphere wasn't the best because we got kicked out of an area that was reserved. I asked him if he could come to church again and he told me the same thing, that he was having visitors over on Sunday. Well all was well and he was still by far our most positive investigator. The next day was Friday and I talked with him a little bit over the phone to try and keep in daily contact with him. The next day was Saturday and I was hesitant to call him because I didn't want to bug him three days in a row. I came to the conclusion that I need to have daily contact with this investigator so I called him up and he told me he would come to church tomorrow. What an amazing blessing and I now know that keeping daily contact with our investigators is so important. Well on Sunday he doesn't show up when church is about to start so I gave him a call, come to find out that he slept in. He told me he would be ready in 30 minutes so we got the Hickman's to help us out. He came to church and everything went perfect. The members were great and some of them were inviting him over for dinner. All the meetings went great and the spirit was really strong and he told me afterwards that he loves the church and loves the people here. We taught him with another member after church and talked about prayer. He prayed for the first time and there was an amazing spirit in the room. We will be meeting with him again on Tuesday and hopefully get a for sure date with him. Everything else went pretty good this last week and I have been going over all the lessons and commandments with Elder Bolt this last week to make sure I'm ready to begin training. The Lord is blessing us and i know there are more people out there like Andre, we just need to find them.
I love you all and i can't wait to hear from you all next week!
Eldste Godfrey
