Hei Familie!
Time is going by so fast, i have less the one month left. So much has happened since last week. I have learned so much about the gospel. Last Sunday i had the opportunity to bear my testimony in Norwegian in District Meeting. I got called to be the new zone leader on Sunday as well. I'm really excited about it and so are my companions. It's going to be a lot of work but really rewarding, i have already seen so many blessings from it. My companions and i are in charge of over fifty missionaries which is crazy because they have barely fifty missionaries in Norway. Our zone is pretty big! It's a great opportunity to serve. I have to welcome ten more missionaries to our zone tonight that will be serving in the Hawaii mission. This last week my companions and i taught our progressive investigators and i feel like they are really close to committing to be baptized. I'm teaching all of the lessons now in broken Norwegian haha. Elder Bednar gave a talk about a year ago at the MTC. Anyways he talked about if you go home from your mission and a week later you are acting the same as when you left then you didn't serve a good mission. He said you should be weird around girls, and you should get offended on what is on TV. The biggest advice that stuck out to me is he said, "Never leave the mission field." Come home from your mission but never leave the mission field. I think that's important that we always continue to be missionaries. There is so much work to be done and we are pioneers today for the church. Yesterday our devotional was by Elder Kikuchi from the seventy who is from Japan. It was extremely good i wish i had time to tell you everything about it. He said we are all here because of Joseph Smith. He talked a lot about the 1st vision and how important it is. He told us if the investigator can feel the spirit when you tell them the 1st vision they will be converted, its such a powerful tool. I have it memorized in English and Norwegian. I challenge you guys to read over it and study it during a family home evening. Elder kikuchi also told us that we should all have our own version of a sacred grove where we can go and pour out our heart to the Lord. I challenge you to do this also. He gave us some advice that the apostles do. We can do this in our lives as well which is, 1 arise early 2 wash your body 3 put on your garments 4 subdue your spirit to the Lord in prayer 5 wait for inspiration from the Holy Ghost. I want to challenge you guys to pray often, this will strengthen you guys so much. Pray for all meals, pray when you arise, and prepare for bed. I shared a scripture with my investigator that talks about prayer which is in Moroni 7:48.
How is everything going in the family? That is awesome that school is out? What has Jake and Justin been up to? I haven't got a letter from Justin yet... I didn't get a letter yesterday either. Did you try to send one? I'm doing great, I'm having so much fun. This last week I've been playing a lot of three on three basketball. I want Jake and Justin to write me often so i can see how they are doing. I miss all of you very much! The Norwegian is coming along and i feel a lot more comfortable speaking it now. I know when i get there and they start speaking a million miles an hour I'm going to wonder what they taught me at the MTC. I'm starting to run out of food so if you want you could send me some more gummy lifesavers haha. i don't know what we want to do with the suit case thing. I think i can just drop it off at the post office.
I know that this church is true. i know that because of Joseph Smith we have the restored church on the Earth again. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and i know that because i have read and prayed about it just like it says in Moroni 10:3-5. This gospel will bring you happiness in your life and we need to look to the Lord first in all things. I love you all and I'll talk to you soon!
Elsker, Eldste Godfrey
