Hva Skjer Familien Godfrey? This week has been an exciting one and i have good news... Tone is getting BAPTIZED!!! When i first got here to Skien they didn't have a lot going on. They had an investigator named Victor from Nigeria who was pretty positive but they hadn't really committed him to anything. I remember Elder Abrams telling me that there was this girl named Tone who had been coming to church but didn't want to meet with the missionaries. Tone is a 22 yr old Norwegian who had been going to school in Finland where she met the missionaries. The missionaries had taught her almost everything in Finland. The missionaries asked her to get baptized there but she said no. She came back to Norway in November and has been here ever since. She has not met with the missionaries in Norway but I told Elder Abrams that i wanted to meet with her and get her baptized. He told me to give it a shot so i started talking to her my first Sunday in Skien which would have been on the 15th of January. She is very shy but i noticed the more we kept talking she began to open up. I ended up getting an appoint with her two days later. Last Monday we had a zone conference call where the zone leaders wanted to talk with everyone. They wanted everyone to fast on Tuesday for missionary work in Norway. January is a very important month because the apostles are watching us right now to see if we deserve another stake. We met with Tone Tuesday night and had an amazing lesson with her and the spirit was really strong. We asked her to be baptized and she was very hesitant. She knows the church is true and has already read the entire Book of Mormon. After a lot of testimony she said in a quite voice, <<Jeg vil gjøre det>> (I will do it). She is an amazing person and I'm so excited for her. She doesn't know very many people in the ward so she has asked Elder Abrams and I to Baptize and Confirm her. We are meeting with her tonight and she will decide which one is baptizing her and which one is confirming her. She has been a miracle and huge blessing. We have appointments with her everyday this week so that she is ready to be baptized. She leaves to Finland on Febuary 3rd for school. She only has two months left and then she will come back to Skien to live and work. Her father actually works at the State Church which is pretty interesting. She has a lot of courage to get baptized and i know the Lord is really going to bless her life because of this choice. I will be getting in contact with the missionaries in Finland so they will be able to fellowship her there and teach her all the lessons again. Tone was an answer to our prayers and I'm so grateful that i have the opportunity to be part of her baptism. We have a soft commitment with Victor and will hopefully get him baptized in the next coming weeks.
Skien is a beautiful place and really enjoy being here. We got our first real snow storm this last week. We got over a foot of snow. It was awesome and everything is really white and pretty right now. I've lost track of how many times i have fallen in the snow now ha ha. On my way to church yesterday i was going down this hill and i slipped and landed on my back. Luckily there was so much powder that i didn't feel anything. I realized later though that i lost my name tag in the snow ha ha. Earlier in the week Elder Abrams and I took a bus to Porsgrunn a town about 15 minutes away. It was a really nice town right on the river. It reminded me so much of that ocean side town on the Big Island we went to. I think were going to go there at least once a week for contacting. I planned my first District Meeting in Tønsberg last week. It takes us about 90 minutes to get to Tønsberg. We take a bus and a train. I think it went pretty good and I actually enjoy doing them. I want to master my communication/presentation skills on the mission. This week were going on splits after district meeting. I will be with Elder Anderson from my MTC district in Tønsberg on part of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Jake looks pretty styling with his hair. How long is he going to grow it out? Jake and Justin need to write me again... i haven't heard from them for a while. The house looks like its coming along great. I have know idea what to tell you about the cabinets. I can't wait for it to be all done and to see the pictures.
I miss you all and i hope you have a wonderful week. I love you all!
Eldste Godfrey
